About the Author
Oliver St. John is the author of twelve books covering Hermetic and Thelemic philosophy, Qabalah, operative magical Theurgy, the Tarot and astrology. He received initial training through a five-year course in Applied Qabalah written by Gareth Knight and W. E. Butler. In 1996 e.v., he forged a magical link with the Law of Thelema, the ancient Egyptian "93" current that was unearthed through the mediumship of Aleister and Rose Crowley. This led to his foundation of the Hermetic college Ordo Astri in 2000 e.v., and his entry into Kenneth Grant's Typhonian Order (formerly Typhonian OTO) in the same year. Over the course of time, Oliver St. John has worked with Mary Long (author and student of Dion Fortune), Gareth Knight, Dolores Ashcroft-Nowicki (co-founder of the Servants of the Light Association) and Olivia Robertson (co-founder of the Fellowship of Isis).

About the Author
Don St John, Ph.D., is a psychotherapist, somatic-relational teacher, coach, public speaker, and author. He is an authorized Continuum Movement teacher and Hellerwork Structural Integration practitioner and trainer. He has taught and given presentations in the US, Canada, New Zealand, and Brazil. Don brings two general qualifications to the authorship of Healing the Wounds of Childhood. The first, and perhaps most important, is that he has traveled the territory he describes, and he has accomplished an arguably miraculous level of personal change in one lifetime. As a psychotherapist, he works in a style that requires deep empathy and attunement with his patients. It is a level of emotional presence that he could not even have understood or imagined when he began his healing journey. As a Continuum Movement teacher, he teaches fluid movement. Again, this would have been unimaginable to him three decades ago. Thus, he has clearly walked what he talks. His second general qualification is that he has been immersed in both the psychotherapeutic and somatic therapy worlds for the past forty-seven years. His roots were in traditional clinical psychology, but earlyon, he realized from his own experience that the body must be included. Thus began his journey in both the psychotherapeutic and somatic realms. Dr. St John studied Gestalt Therapy at the LA Gestalt Therapy Institute and Neo-Reichian therapy with Drs. Allan Darbonne and Jack Lee Rosenberg; the Psychology of Selves and Voice Dialogue Method with Drs. Hal and Sidra Stone; Hakomi with Dr. Ron Kurtz; Coherence Therapy with Dr. Bruce Ecker; AEDP with Dr. Diana Fosha; and CIMS with Dr. Albert Sheldon and Beatriz Winstanley. He has taken immersion courses and core training in Dr. Sue Johnson's Emotionally-Focused Couple's Therapy. He is certified in Somatic Experiencing, the work of Dr. Peter Levine. He has also studied cranio-sacral therapy and for twenty years has been studying and practicing Continuum Movement developed by Emilie Conrad and Susan Harper. Don's doctoral dissertation, written at the Western Institute for Social Research, focused on the consequences of and recovery from relational maltreatment in early childhood. He lives in Salt Lake City with his wife of thirty years, Diane, co-founder of Paths of Connection. They have been teaching together for twenty-five years.

This is a great introduction to composite materials. If you have an undergraduate degree (or upper-level undergrad student), this is a great text to start understanding composites. It walks you through just about everything you need to know, without getting into math that we do not have the ability to understand. The examples do a good job of putting things together. The only negative is there are no solutions to the problems. As a self-study, this is a pretty big downfall, but I understand why the publisher decided to do this.I am about half way through the book.

Barbero is a very talented technical writer. This book is incredibly easy to understand and it has plenty of example problems. This book strikes a nice balance between explaining the theory behind models, and teaching how to use the models. It fits well with Barbero's book on using FEM to model the behavior of composite materials, and between this book and Barbero's other FEM book, my senior engineering design team was able to accurately model a simple composite structure.Good book, well written, very useful.

Starts off with really good explanation on composites. The bad thing about this book is there are no answers to the questions. Also, many questions aren't covered in the book.

Great Book. Has a lot of math equations in it and so as a Calc I student a little hard to understand, but with some help I Am getting it. Very good information. This is my text book for an Advanced Composite class.

This was a pretty decent textbook, I was required to get it for one of my classes but it was very informational.

This is a wonderful book! About a year ago I bought Dr. Verschuuren's other book on Excel Simulations which created all of the simulations with formulas and lacked any VBA code. While useful for some, for me that fell a bit short. But his new book, 100 Excel VBA Simulations, perfectly hits the mark. Each of the 100 examples is presented in a concise and strait forward way on two pages of the book. One one page he explains the simulation, provides illustrations of how it works, and offers a very insightful "what you need to know" section where he explains the theory and nuances of each. On the adjoining page he presents the VBA code used to create each simulation. DO NOT be afraid to buy this book if you are new to VBA. The typically 20-30 lines of code is organized, logical, and extremely easy to follow. The code is rich with examples of how to manipulate data, tables, arrays, dialog boxes and graphs. This alone makes it worth the price. Topics cover everything from Business to Finance to Genetics to Gambling to Monte Carlo simulations.All of the examples in the book can be downloaded from his companion website. While the examples are presented in a brief but comprehensive way, most of them are sufficiently complex to challenge your creativity and create a starting point to build rich, useful simulations of your own.

This is a thin book that dedicates on average two pages to each "simulation". Each simulation has a picture of the spreadsheet, the output and the code. Each simulation also has a brief description of what the simulation does and "what you need to know." (And some of the "what you need to know" is about two sentences long kind of brief.) All of the author's files and code may be downloaded from his website listed in the front of the book.As others have described, the code is not terribly lengthy nor complex so it is easy to understand. The book is written well enough for a casual user to understand the beginnings of what Excel VBA can do simulation-wise. However, a concept like bootstrapping (Chapter 25) is explained insanely briefly (six sentences over two paragraphs). The code consistently uses ambiguous variables (i, j, r, etc) with minimal commenting.Modelers, intermediate and advanced users will be disappointed. There may be a couple of nuggets in the "Gambling" and "Business" sections.This book mirrors my major gripe with so many of the other relatively inexpensive (less than $50) VBA resources available on Amazon: it feels like you'd have possibly gotten more value from finding a good blog or website and researching specific topics instead of buying a book sight unseen (since there are no previews of any any of the simulation pages). This is definitely one of the cases where a brick and mortar store can be (and in my case actually was) more helpful.

excellent book, opens up a Pandora's box of VBA techniques not covered in conventional VBA excel books. His stuff is great check out his youtube channel.

This is the material missing in most if not all books teaching VBA. Having a good guide like Excel 2016 power programming or Excel 2016 VBA and Macros in combination with this book will help you trully master the Basic's on Variable's, formula's, looping, ranges. It demonstrates with fun mostly short scripts (Yes the simulations are also fun, interesting etc.) how things work.The books referred to above all contain examples and those do help, but having something this practical in addition is just what you need to really get to the bottom of the material. This book basically contains the homework assignments missing in teaching books.As a bonus it gives some great examples of using vb formulas. A good methaphor for what I mean is: "you have mastered vlookup in excel and all of a sudden discover indexmatch or sumproduct".
